“After the Messenger of Allah, praise and peace be upon him, had led the dawn prayer he ascended the pulpit and addressed us until the time of the noon prayer. Then he came down from the pulpit and led the prayer. After the prayer he ascended the pulpit again and addressed us until the time of the afternoon prayer at which time he came down and led the prayer. After concluding the prayer he ascended yet again the pulpit and continued to address us until the sun set. During his address he spoke about that which had already happened and that which would occur in the future. The most knowledgeable among the Companions remembered it by heart.”
