THE ENDORSEMENT OF THE VALUE OF REPEATING THE PRAYER ON THE PROPHET, praise and peace be upon him

584

“When a third of the night had passed the Prophet, praise and peace be upon him, would arise and call out, ‘O people, remember Allah, the first Call has been sounded, and after this comes the second Call. Death has accompanied it with all that it comprises.’

There was an occasion when Ubayy said to the Prophet, praise and peace be upon him, ‘O Messenger of Allah, praise and peace be upon him, I supplicate blessings for you repeatedly, how much time shall I devote to you?’ He replied, ‘As much as you would wish.’ Ubayy asked, ‘A quarter?’ He answered, ‘If you wish; but it would be better for you if you increased it.’ Ubayy asked, ‘Half?’ He replied, ‘Whatever you wish, but it would be better for you if you increased it.’ Ubayy asked again, ‘Two-thirds?’ He replied, ‘As you wish; but it would be better for you if you increased it.’ Ubayy said, ‘Shall I devote all my supplications to blessings upon you?’ He said, ‘In that case it would take care of all your worries and your sins will be forgiven.’”
