“The Prophet, praise and peace be upon him, led us in a funeral prayer for a deceased Muslim. I (Wathilah) heard him supplicate, ‘O Allah, so and so, son of so and so is under Your covenant and secure in Your nearness. Shield him from the trial of the grave and the punishment of Hell. You are the Owner of Fulfillment and Praise. O Allah, forgive him and have mercy on him. Indeed You are the Most Forgiving, the Most Merciful.’"

Abu Daud with a chain up to Wathilah son of Aska'a who related that the Messenger of Allah, praise and peace be upon him, said this.
