DEFINITION OF PRIDE

“Whosoever has an iota of pride in his heart will not enter Paradise. One of the Companions said, ‘O Messenger of Allah, praise and peace be upon him, some people like nice clothes and shoes.’ The Prophet, praise and peace be upon him, said, ‘Allah is Elegant and Beautiful and He likes elegance and beauty. Pride means rejecting the truth through self-esteem and considering another to be lowly.”

Muslim with a chain up to Abdullah ibn Mas'ud who related that the Messenger of Allah, praise and peace be upon him, said this.
