“The Prophet, praise and peace be upon him, noticed someone had spat in the Mosque near the Qibla. His face expressed displeasure, he stood up and scraped it up with his hand, and said, ‘When you stand in prayer you are secretly talking with your Lord, and He is between you and the Qibla. Let no one, therefore, spit in that direction, spit only to your left or under your foot.’ Then he picked up a corner of his cloak, spat into it and folded it and said, ‘Or, you should do like this.’"
