Omar, the son of Lady Umm Salamah, wife of the Prophet, may Allah be pleased with her, was in the care of the Prophet, praise and peace be upon him. Omar said, ‘I used to put my hand inside the bowl when I ate, then the Prophet, praise and peace be upon him, told me to mention the Name of Allah and eat whatever was in front of me with my right hand.” From that time onward this became my eating habit.
