SUPPLICATIONS TO BE SAID AT EVENING

1487

“The Messenger of Allah, praise and peace be upon him, would say in the evening, ‘We have reached the night and so did the kingdom of Allah, all praise belongs to Allah, there is no god except Allah, alone with no associate.”

The narrator said, ‘I think he would also say: ‘His is the Kingdom and His the Praise, and He has power over all things. O Lord, I ask You for all the good of this night and the good of that which will follow it, and seek Your protection against the evils of this night and the evil of that which will follow it. O Lord, I seek Your protection against laziness and the mischief of senility, and seek Your protection against the punishment of the Fire and the punishment of the tomb.’

In the morning he would substitute the word ‘evening’ for the ‘morning’.”

Muslim with a chain up to ibn Mas'ud who related that the Messenger of Allah, praise and peace be upon him, said this.
