“When the Messenger of Allah, praise and peace be upon him, had finished his prayer he asked forgiveness three times and recited, ‘O Allah, You are the Bestower of peace and from You is peace. Blessed are You, O Lord of Glory and Honor.’"

Imam Auza'e, one of the narrators of the hadith was asked: ‘How did the Messenger of Allah, praise and peace be upon him, ask forgiveness?’ He answered, ‘The Messenger of Allah, praise and peace be upon him, would say, I beseech Allah for forgiveness, I beseech Allah for forgiveness.'"
