“When any of you lead the prayer he should not make it long, because there are those in the congregation who are weak, ill or old. When you pray alone you can pray as long as you like.”

Another narration adds:

“and those who have matters to attend.”

Bukhari and Muslim with a chain up to Abu Hurairah who related that the Messenger of Allah, praise and peace be upon him, said this.
