TEARS OF THE PROPHET, praise and peace be upon him
447
“The Prophet, praise and peace be upon him, asked ibn Mas'ud to recite the Koran to him. He said: ‘O Messenger of Allah, praise and peace be upon him, should I recite the Koran to you, when it is you upon whom it has been sent down?’ He replied: ‘I like to hear it recited by another.’ So he recited to him the chapter An Nisa (Women) until he reached the verse: "How then shall it be when We bring forward from every nation a witness, and bring you (Prophet Muhammad) to witness against those!" (4:41) when he said: ‘That is enough for now.’ Ibn Mas'ud looked at him and saw tears overflowing from his eyes.”
