REWARD FOR HUNGER

516

“There were some people who, when stood in prayer with the Prophet, praise and peace be upon him, fainted on account of extreme hunger. These Companions were known as Suffa. The villagers thought them to be insane. As soon as the prayer had finished, the Prophet, praise and peace be upon him, would go to them and say: ‘If you only knew what there is waiting for you with Allah, the Exalted, you would wish to have your hunger and lack of provisions increased.’"

Tirmidhi with a chain up to Fazalah, the son of Ubaid who related this hadith.
