“A person who is appointed to a position of authority over people will not die except as a cheat on account of that which he had been entrusted. For him, Allah forbids Paradise.”

The Prophet, praise and peace be upon him, added:

“Even the fragrance of Paradise will not reach him, if he does not look after them with goodwill and sincerity.”

Bukhari and Muslim with a chain up to Ma'kil, the son of Yasam who related that he heard the Prophet, praise and peace be upon him, say this.
