“Abu Dharr asked the Prophet, praise and peace be upon him, ‘Will you not appoint me to public office?’ He patted him on the shoulder and said, ‘Abu Dharr, you are weak and the office is a trust and is a source of limitation on the Day of Judgement also, it can be a source of remorse except for those who take it up with a full sense of responsibility and fulfill its obligations.’”
