“The Messenger of Allah, praise and peace be upon him, was the most generous of men and he was at his most generous during Ramadan when Gabriel visited him every night and recited the Koran to him. During this time the good generosity of the Messenger of Allah, praise and peace be upon him, increased faster than the gusty wind.”

Bukhari and Muslim with a chain up to ibn Abbas who related this.
