“One night ibn Mas'ud joined the Prophet, praise and peace be upon him, in his voluntary prayer. He prolonged the standing so much that ibn Mas’ud thought of something impertinent. He was asked, ‘What was that?’ He answered, ‘To sit down and stop following him.’”
