As they discussed the matter, a messenger from King Ghassan conveying news
of the Messenger of Allah, praise and veneration be upon him, arrived. Heraclius
listened then ordered the messenger to be taken away to see whether or not he
was circumcised. When he learned that he was he asked the messenger whether
the Arabs practiced circumcision and was told that they did.
Heraclius felt something of great consequence had occurred in Arabia and as
