became blistered and bled.

One day, Ali strained himself badly whilst hauling water and returned home in great
pain. Now, the Prophet, praise and peace be upon him, had been given several
servants, however, it was not his intent to keep them for himself. It was his practice to
either release them if they embraced Islam, or sell them to raise money for the growing
number of very poor Muslims that flocked to Medina with little more than the clothes
they were wearing.

Ali asked his wife to go to her father to ask him to give them one of his servants to ease
their burden. Lady Fatima was too shy to ask her father for such a favor, however, Ali
was in pain so she went to visit him but still could not bring herself to ask and returned
home. So Ali and Lady Fatima went to visit the Prophet together.

When Ali told the Prophet, praise and peace be upon him, of their need, the Prophet
explained his position but told him of something better which was to repeat after each
prayer, "Al Hamdulillah, SubanAllah, Allahu Akbar ten times," as there are great
blessings for doing so. From that day onward Ali never missed repeating the
supplications after each prayer.
