Warakah, like a handful of other people knowledgeable of the Scriptures,
felt sure from his learning that the time was imminent for the coming of the
last Prophet of Allah. He remembered the prophecy of Jesus, peace be
upon him, to his disciples:

"But now I go my way to God who sent me,
and none of you asks me, "Where are you going?"
But because I have said these things to you,
sorrow has filled your heart.
Nevertheless I tell you the truth;
It is expedient for you that I go away; for if I go not away,
the Comforter (Prophet Muhammad) will not come unto you;
but if I depart, he will be sent unto you.
