Later on when they engaged the Jews of Khaybar Aamir aimed his sword at the leg of a
Jew, but it was short and its sharp blade slipped and severely injured Aamir‟s own knee
and he died. Some of the Companions felt sad that Aamir had died in such a manner
and thought he had been deprived of his reward. When the Prophet (salla Allahu alihi
was sallam) saw the saddened face of Salamah his brother, he asked what was
troubling him and he told him what was being said. The Prophet (salla Allahu alihi was
sallam) comforted him saying, "Whosoever says such is mistaken, Aamir has received a
double reward, he persevered in the cause of Allah and there are but a few Arabs who
achieved what Aamir did."

The Valley Overlooking Khaybar
