(Maymunah, one of the wives of the Prophet) reported that the Messenger of Allah - Peace and blessing be upon him - when taking a janabah bath he started by washing the palms of his hands two or three times, then put his hand in a container of water then poured it on his genitals and washed it with his left hand then he hit his left hand on the ground and rubbed it strongly. Then he performed ablution 'like ablution' prayer. Then he poured water on his head three times with all the palms of his hands, then he splashed his entire body. Then he moved from his place and washed his feet, then brought him a handkerchief but he refused. In another narration: after he wiped his hands on the ground then rinsed his mouth and istinsyaq then he washed his face then his hands and then watered his body.
