(Umm Salamah) reported that she said: "At the time of the Prophet sallallaahu 'alaihi wasallam the women who are postpartum sat in silence for forty days, and we cleaned their faces with sane (a kind of fragrant plant) from dirt."

"I was given five things that were never given to the prophets before me, namely, that I was helped (by Allah) with the fear that was cast on my enemies for a month, made the earth a place of prostration and purification, so wherever someone from among My people find (the time of) prayer, pray there, and I give intercession that was not given to the prophet before me, and I was also sent to all mankind, while the prophets before me were specifically sent only to their people."
