(Abu Qotaadah) reported that the Messenger of Allah - Peace and blessing be upon him - recited in the first two rak'ahs the Zuhur and Asr prayers, Surah Al-Fatihah and one other surah and sometimes he listened to the verse reading, while in the last two rak'ahs he only read Al-Fatihah only.

(Abu Sa'id Al-Khudriy) reported that the Prophet recited in the first two rak'ahs of the midday prayer only a verse and in the last two rak'ahs only a verse or half of it. While in Asr prayer in the first two rak'ahs read about the verse and in the last two rak'ahs half of it.

(Jaabir bin Samuroh) reported that the Messenger of Allah (PBUH) recited the dhuhur and asr prayers with was samaa-i dzaatil buruuj and was samaa-i wath thooriq and the like.

(Khobbaab bin Al-Arott) reported that the Prophet - Peace and blessing be upon him - recited the surah in the dhuhur and asr prayers which could be seen from the movement of his beard.
