(Anas) he reported that the Prophet - Peace and blessing be upon him - made Abulloh bin Ummi Maktum as an imam for the people even though he was blind.

Topic | Obligation to follow the priest

h858

An imam is appointed to be followed, so when he recites takbir, you should recite, and when he bows, then bow, then when he wakes up, you should get up, and when he says: (meaning) "Allah hears the servant who praises him." (sami'alloohu liman hamidah)" you should say: (meaning) "O our Lord to you be all praise (robbanaa walakl hamd)", and when he prostrates then you should prostrate, and when he prays sitting down then all of you should pray in a sitting position.

h859

Indeed, you are just about to do what the Persians and Romans did, they stood at their kings while they (kings) were sitting, so do not imitate. Follow your imams when he prays standing, then pray standing up, and when he prays sitting down, pray sitting down.

Note: Praying in a sitting state because following the imam who prays sitting down because he is unable to stand, this law was at the beginning of Islam. After that this law was abolished (naskh) that is, if the priest prays sitting down, the congregation prays standing up as explained by Al-Imam Al-Bukhariy in his Sahih.
