[Plural is to collect the dhuhur asr prayers at one time; if both are done at the time of dhuhur it is called plural taqdiim (prioritizing prayer) and if both are done at the time of asr then it is called plural ta'khir (ending prayer); The same applies to the Maghrib Isha prayer.

(Mu'adz bin Jabal) he reported that the Prophet - Peace and blessing be upon him - in the battle of Tabuk if he walked before the sun slipped then he accelerated the Asr to the time of dhuhur and the dhuhur asr prayer in plural. Then if he walks before Maghrib, he ends Maghrib so that he prays Maghrib together with Isha', but if he walks after Maghrib he advances Isha' and does it together with Maghrib prayers.
