(A Companion of the Prophet - Peace and blessing be upon him - ) he reported that a group of troops marched (for prayer) with him and another group marched towards the enemy, then he prayed with the group that was with him one cycle and then he remained standing and the people worshiped. his own prayer then went and marched towards the enemy. Then another group came and he prayed with them the rest of the rak'ah, then he remained seated while they completed their prayer alone and he greeted them.

(Abdulloh bin Abbas) he reported that the Messenger of Allah - Peace and blessing be upon him - prayed in the battle of Dzu Qurod and lined up the people behind him into two rows. One line behind him and another line facing the enemy. Then he prayed with those behind him one rakaat. Then they go to their position (which is in the direction of the enemy). Then they came (behind the Apostle) and he prayed with them one rakaat and they did not finish/add another rakaat.
