(a friend of the Prophet - Peace and blessing be upon him - ) reported that the rules for praying the corpse were the imam takbir then reading Surah Al-Fatihah after the first takbir quietly for himself only, then praying to the Prophet - Peace and blessing be upon him - and specializing prayers for the dead in three takbirs. the rest, did not read the Qur'an at all in the three takbirs, then greeted him softly when he was about to finish praying (by turning) to the right. The rule is that the makmums do as their imams do.

(Abdulloh bin Abbas) he reported that the Prophet - Peace and blessing be upon him - had prayed the corpse at the grave of the deceased after being buried so he recited the takbir four times.

(Abdulloh bin Abi Awfa) reported that he prayed the dead body and recited the takbir four times, and stated that the Prophet also recited the takbir four times and not five times.
