The good things that are in me so I don't keep them from you. But whoever tries to maintain his honor, Allah will protect his honor. Whoever strives to be sufficient for himself, Allah will suffice him. Whoever tries to be patient, Allah will help him to be patient. No one is given a gift that is better and wider than patience.

The hand above is better than the hand below. The upper hand is the one who gives charity, while the lower hand is the one who begs.

O Hakim (bin Hizam), this treasure is like something green and sweet. Whoever takes it with a spirit of generosity will be blessed with it. But whoever takes it with a spirit of greed will not be blessed with it, and he is like one who eats and is not satisfied. The hand above is better than the hand below.

By the One in Whose Hand is my soul, one of you takes his rope and carries firewood on his back, it is better for him than going to someone to ask him, whether he gives it or not.

(Abu Mas'ud) he said: In the past when the Messenger of Allah - Peace and blessing be upon him - told us to give charity then one of us went to the market and he worked and earned one mud (to be given in charity). While today some of them have a hundred thousand.
