Do not precede Ramadan by fasting one or two days, except for someone who has (used to) fast, so let him fast.

(Ammar bin Yaasir) he said: Whoever fasts on a day of doubt (yaumusy shak) then indeed he has disobeyed Abul Qosim - Peace and blessing be upon him - .
The day of doubt is shaban, because it may be the beginning of Ramadan
