('Aisha) she reported that in the past (during ignorance) the Quraysh and their co-religionists performed wuquf in Muzdalifah and they were called Humus (plural of Ahmas i.e. people who were very strict in religion) while other Arabs performed wuquf in Arofah. When Islam came, Allah ordered his Prophet - Peace and blessing be upon him - to come to Arafah and perform wuquf there and then depart from there (to Muzdalifah and Mina). That is what His Most High says: "Then depart from where the people departed (i.e. Arofah)..." (Surah Al-Baqoroh: )

Wuquf in Arofah and matters related to it and Stop at Muzdalifah

h1477

Hajji is (wuquf in) Arofah, so whoever comes before the dawn prayer on the night (which they should move to) Muzdalifah (ie the night of Eid al-Adha) indeed he has completed his Hajj. As for the days of Mina are three (and Dzulhijjah). Whoever hastens (only takes / stays) for two days (and) then there is no sin for him and whoever delays (until) then there is no sin for him.

h1478

Whoever attends our congregational prayer (fajr prayer at Muzdalifah) and stops with us (here) until we depart, while he has actually performed wuquf in Arafah earlier, either day or night, then his Hajj has been completed and has completed the prohibition of ihram.
