It is narrated that Anas said: "I heard Anas say: "At the time of the Prophet sallallaahu 'alaihi wasallam there were four companions who were in charge of collecting the Qur'an, all of them from the Ansar. That is; Mu'adh bin Jabal, Ubay bin Ka'ab, Zaid bin Thabit and Abu Zaid." Qatadah said; I once asked Anas; 'Who is Abu Zaid? Anas replied; 'He is one of my paternal relatives.'

h1765

"Take by you the Qur'an from four people, namely; from Abdullah bin Mas'ud (he started from it), then from Mu'adz bin Jabal, from Ubay bin Ka'ab and from Salim Maula Abu Hudzaifah."

h1766

From 'Abdullah he said; "By the One who has no god but Allah, there is not a single letter in the Qur'an, unless I know when it was revealed. And not a verse from the Qur'an was revealed, unless I know what the verse was about. I know there are people who know more than me about the Book of Allah, which distance that person must travel by camel, I will definitely meet him."
