Allah says:
"Do you then hope that they will believe in you,
when some of them have already heard the Word of Allah
and knowingly tampered with it,

although they understood its meaning!"

Therefore, it is not surprising that most of the Jews of Medina resented the presence of
Prophet Muhammad, praise and peace be upon him, and could not fail to notice that
every day the number of his followers increased.
