The Debt
Jabir, Abdullah‟s father had been martyred during the hostilities at Uhud and had, due to
circumstances, taken loans over time from his Jewish neighbors. No sooner Jabir's
creditors learned of his death they unmercifully wasted no time in pressing Abdullah to
settle the matter immediately. There was very little to offer, however there was the
harvest of his father's date palms which Abdullah hoped would satisfy them, but all
refused saying the harvest was insufficient.
The Prophet (salla Allahu alihi wa sallam) was concerned when he learned of Abdullah's
predicament, so he went to him immediately and asked him to request his creditors to
come and see him. The creditors arrived and the Prophet (salla Allahu alihi wa sallam)
supplicated to Allah, whereupon each creditor, to their absolute amazement, received
