Koranic verses:
The pertinent Koranic verses are these words of Allah, the Almighty:
“Your Lord knows that you keep vigil nearly two thirds of the night and sometimes
half or one-third of it, and a party of those with you.…” (Koran Ch. 73 verse 20)
“Indeed, the first part of the night is heavier in tread, and more upright in
speech.l…”(Koran Ch. 73 verse 6)
“whose sides forsake their couches as they supplicate to their Lord in fear and
hope …” (Koran Ch. 32 verse 16)
“Or, is he who is obedient that prostrates himself and stands during parts of the
night, being afraid of the Everlasting Life but hoping for the Mercy of the Lord (to
be compared to the unbeliever)?' …”(Koran Ch. 39 verse 9)
“And those who spend their nights prostrate to their Lord and standing…” (Koran
