The offering will then serve the additional purpose of strengthening ties of
kinship, the reward for, which is incalculable. Ali once said: “To present one of
my brothers with a single coin is dear to me than giving twenty in charity, while to
present him with twenty is dearer to me than giving a hundred in charity, and to
present him with a hundred is dearer to me than emancipating a slave.” Friends
and fellows in a good cause should be preferred over mere acquaintances, just
as relatives are put before strangers.
