He was blessed with two sons and when death approached, he entrusted the
education of his sons, Al Ghazali and Ahmad, to a pious friend telling him that
because he had never learned to read or write himself, it was his wish to
rectify these things by having his two sons educated. The friend taught the
brothers to the best of his ability, but as time progressed it was clear they
needed further education so he recommended that they be sent to a boarding
school where there was a trust available to continue their education.
