kindled a fire in the dark,

and when it lit all around him
Allah took away their light,

and left them in darkness unseeing. 24

18. Deaf, dumb, blind -

so they shall not return. 25

19. Or their example is as a rain cloud out of heaven
in which is darkness, thunder, and lightning.

They put their fingers tips in their ears
against the thunderclaps, cautious of death.
And Allah encompasses the unbelievers. 26

20. The lightning almost snatches away their sight.
