the unbelievers, as for defensive fighting it is obvious, though
it is hateful to you because it is hard.
And you may hate a thing which is better for you.
And you may love a thing which is evil for you because
the self inclines to desires and resists the obligations
that lead to happiness. Therefore in fighting there is
good for you even when you hate it, the good of
victory, spoils of war, martyrdom and reward. If you do
not fight there is the evil of humiliation and no reward.
Allah knows, and you do not know. 223
217. They will question you Prophet Muhammad about
the holy month, and fighting in it.
Say, 'Fighting in it is a great offense.
it is hateful to you because it is hard.
