upon him, asked me how I received the news of the defeat of the unbelievers at Badr. I
told him that I had heard all the news. The Messenger of Allah, praise and peace be
upon him, said, “We will guide you.” I replied, “I will accept Islam when you take control
of the Ka‟bah and start living there.” The Messenger of Allah, praise and peace be upon
him, said, “If you are still alive, you shall indeed see it.”
Then the Messenger of Allah, praise and peace be upon him, turned to Bilal and said, “O
Bilal, take this man‟s bag and fill it with Ajwa dates as provision for his journey.” As I was
about to leave I heard the Messenger of Allah, praise and peace be upon him, say to his
Companions, “He is the finest horseman of the Banu Amir tribe.”
Dhi Jowshin continued his story saying, “By Allah, I was with my family in Ghowr when a
rider arrived and I asked him what was going on in Mecca. He replied, „By Allah,
Muhammad has taken control of the Ka‟bah and is living there.‟ When I heard this I said
to myself, „If only my mother had lost me as a child, if only I had accepted Islam that day.
If I had asked the Messenger of Allah to give me the area of Hira, he would have given it
to me.‟
