Lady Ayesha, wife of the Prophet, Mother of Believers, may Allah be pleased with her,
narrates that there was a time when eighty-three Companions of the Messenger of Allah,
praise and peace be upon him, were together with Abu Bakr. Abu Bakr had on many
occasions asked the Messenger of Allah, praise and peace be upon him, for permission
to preach Islam publicly but the Messenger of Allah, praise and peace be upon him, had
said, “O Abu Bakr, we are too few.” However, Abu Bakr continued to request permission
to do so until the Messenger of Allah, praise and peace be upon him, gave him
