As they were talking, an old man from the Koraysh arrived, wearing clothes made of
Yemeni cloth with a striped upper garment. He asked, „What is the matter with you?‟
When they told him Omar had accepted Islam he said, „Then stop this. Do you think that
the tribe of Banu Adi (Omar‟s tribe) will hand their man over to you just like that? Leave
the man alone.‟ By Allah, the people (dispersed so fast that it) seemed as if a sheet had
been lifted from Omar. After we had migrated to Medina I asked my father, „Dear father,
who was that old man who drove those people who were fighting you away from you in
Mecca the day you accepted Islam.” He replied, „That man, my dear son, was „As, son of
