THE COURAGE OF ABU DHARR
Abu Dharr said that he stayed for a while in Mecca with the Messenger of Allah, praise
and peace be upon him, who taught him about Islam and that he learned some of the

him, “I wish to declare my adherence to Islam in public.” The Messenger of Allah, praise

to do it even if I am killed.” The Messenger of Allah, praise and peace be upon him,
remained silent, and he (Abu Dharr) proceeded. The members of the Koraysh were
sitting in various groups around the Sacred Mosque and talking together when I arrived
and announced, “I bear witness that there is no god and that Muhammad is the
Messenger of Allah. “
