Prophet, praise and peace be upon him, had praised Allah and exalted Him during
his Farewell Pilgrimage sermon he heard him say this.
STRIKING ONE’S WIFE ON THE FACE

“Mu'awiah asked the Prophet, praise and peace be upon him, „What
are the rights of a wife from her husband?‟ He replied: „Feed her
when you feed yourself; clothe her when you clothe yourself, do not
strike her on the face, do not abuse her and do not abandon her
except inside the house.‟”
Abu Daud with a chain up to Mu'awiah son of Haidah who related this.
