“Wherever the Prophet, praise and peace be upon him, was given a
choice he took the easier course, unless it was sinful, in which case
he avoided it more than anyone else. Neither did he ever seek
revenge for a personal wrong, unless it involved a violation of a
Divine Order when such was the case he carried out the punishment
for the sake of Allah.”

Bukhari and Muslim with a chain up to the Mother of Believers, Lady Ayesha, may
Allah be pleased with her, who related this.

THE FIRE IS FORBIDDEN TO THE GENTLE

“Shall I tell you of those to whom the Fire is forbidden to touch? It is
forbidden to touch every relative who is soft, lenient and gentle.”

Tirmidhi with a chain up to ibn Mas'ud who related that the Prophet, praise and
peace be upon him, said this.
