“Ibn Mas'ud used to preach every Thursday and a man said to him,
„Abu Abdur Rahman, I wish you would preach to us every day.‟ He
replied, „What stops me from doing so is the fear that I may tire you.
I preach in the same style as the Prophet, praise and peace be upon
him, so that you do not get tired.”
Muslim with a chain up to Shakik, the son of Salamah who related this.

“The length of a person's prayer and the conciseness of his sermon
testify to his intelligence and wisdom. Therefore let your prayer be
long and your sermon short.”
Muslim with a chain up to Amr, the son of Yassir who related that he heard the
Prophet, praise and peace be upon him, say this.
