“We were sitting talking on the porch in front of our house when the Messenger of Allah, praise and peace be upon him, came and stood near to us and asked. ‘Why do you sit near the street?’ We replied, ‘We mean no harm, we only sit and talk.’ To this he said, ‘If you must, then discharge your obligation; namely, cast your eyes downwards, reciprocate the greeting and speak decently.’"
