“He (Bra'a, the son of 'Azib) said, ‘The Messenger of Allah, praise and peace be upon him, told him: When going to bed make your ablution as you would do so for prayer then lie on your right side and say: 'O Allah, I surrender my soul to You and entrust my affairs to You, and rely on You, yearning for You and in fear of You. There is no refuge and no asylum against You except with You. I believe in the Book You have sent down and in the Prophet whom You have sent.' Then if you die, you die upright. Let these words be your last words at night.’"

Bukhari and Muslim with a chain up to Bra'a son of 'Azib who related that the Messenger of Allah, praise and peace be upon him, said this.
