Allah in His Mercy accepted Hannah's prayer and she became pregnant.
However, before Hannah gave birth, her husband died, so he never saw the child
he longed for. It was because of Hannah's promise that she thought the baby
would be a boy, because only boys were permitted to serve in the Temple of
Jerusalem.
You can imagine her surprise when she gave birth to a little girl and said, 'Lord, I
have given birth to her, a female ... and I have called her Mary, protect her and
all her descendants from satan, the accursed one.' Once again Allah accepted
her supplication and as Mary grew up she became a very good, little girl who
worshipped Allah a lot. In fact, she was so well mannered and pious that when it

was time for her mother to take her to the Temple to fulfill her promise to Allah,
the High Priests could not believe their eyes and each became very anxious to
