for all with its fine detailing. Everything he said or did which was related to his personal
life or matters is considered as an explanation of the Koran either as a whole or in detail.
The Prophet, praise and peace be upon him, clarified all matters so there could be no
misunderstanding. He also detailed what is summarized in the Koran and through the
application of what is general to special cases and so forth. He would explain to his
Companions each phrase of the Koran in conjunction with its meaning and supportive
action. It is through such course of action that he clarified the entire Koran.
Imam Shafi'i, may Allah is pleased with him, said, „Each saying of the Prophet, praise
and peace be upon him, is an explanation of the Koran and the sayings of the scholars

is an explanation of the prophetic way (sunnah).‟
Abu Abdul Rahman As-Sulami, may Allah be pleased with him, said, "Reciters of the
Koran such as Othman Affan's son, 'Abdullah Masood's son and others, may Allah be
