the Revelation. It is because of this that their explanation is followed on account of two
reasons:

3.1 Their hearing of the Prophet's explanation and what they witnessed of the Revelation
and its proofs qualifies their explanation as being as valid as the hadith of the Prophet,
praise and peace be upon him. They are by default proof of the explanation.

3.2 Because they were purebred Arabs, and elite, they understood the Koran with its
linguistic structure, and again, it is for this reason they are also a proof of its explanation.
The Prophet, praise and peace be upon him, supplicated for Abbas' son saying, "O
Allah, make him deep in the knowledge of the Religion and teach him its explanation."
(Ref. Imam Ahmad, Bukhari. Muslim's narration reads, "O Allah, teach him wisdom" and
"teach him the Book.") With such a solid foundation nothing can equal their explanation.

Imam Bukhari, in his famous reference of hadith, relied in his chapter "The Explanation
of the Koran" on the narration via Ali, Abi Talha's son who received the explanation via
the student of Kasim Muhammad's son and Mujahid. Mujahid said, "I read the Koran in
