The Best Explanation Reference to suffice one's needs:
People seeking a better, more perfected understanding of the Speech of Allah, the High
asked which of the explanations are best.
We ask Allah to bless this work to be the best, most complete and most concentrated
explanation of the Koran.
Prior to this explanation, the best work on this subject was that of Muhammad, Jarir At-
Tabari's son although it is the abridgement of ibn Kathir. Concerning this reference Imam
Nawawi said, "There is no reference to equal his commentary." As-Suyuti endorsed this
saying, "He is a great commentator and the best." Asfaroyini Abu Hamid later
commented, "If a person were to travel to China and reach it, he would not find his
equal."
The explanation of Kathir's son is, in terms of the collection of prophetic sayings, better
than that of Jarir's son in his critique and abridgement from the point of view of collecting
the aggregated sayings of the Prophet, praise and peace be upon him, from the
